Abstracts

Initial Award Abstract
A scientific and administrative core will provide statistical and data management support, integrating the datasets, and providing common analytic methods and strategies for the projects. The core will support research exchanges and integrate training programs on the different campuses into IRP research. The core will also bring to the integrated research the input of scholars and community leaders representing the various Asian and Latino cultures of the Pacific Rim.

The scientific and administrative core provides seven major areas of service:

1. Scientific and administrative management 2. Data management and coordination 3. Statistical consultation and coordination 4. Directorate consisting of key scientific personnel to facilitate inter-project coordination 5. Core area leaders with academic and practical expertise in Hispanic/Latino and Asian/Pacific Island issues, respectively, to give consultation to the projects 6. Training opportunities in cultural issues relevant to tobacco use and ETS exposure.

The core will provide cohesion and integration to the overall IRP as well as serve projects Individually.
